Defending Champions Set to Return to USATF 1 Mile Road ChampionshipsPublished by
Riley Masters and Emily Lipari Set to Return for USATF 1 Mile Road Championships in Des MoinesBy Adam KopetDefending champions, Riley Masters and Emily Lipari are set to return April 23 to compete in the USATF 1 Mile Road Championships, according to a Drake Relays press release. The 2019 USATF 1 Mile Road Championships will be held in Des Moines, Iowa for the third consecutive year as part of the Grand Blue Mile and the Drake Relays. Last year, Masters won the men's race in 4:03.1 and Lipari won the women's race in 4:32.9. Also entered in this year's race are Mikey Brannigan, the 2016 1,500-meter Paralympic gold medalist, and Heather Kampf, who won the 2014 USATF 1 Mile Road Championships and won the Grand Blue Mile in 2015 and 2016. The 2019 USATF 1 Mile Road Championships have a prize purse of $30,000. The event is the third stop on the USATF Running Circuit. The next event is Saturday's USATF 15K Championships in Jacksonville, Fla. More news |
